Here is another wonderful example of how your Bow-Tie Bash entry fees (and raffle ticket purchases) support our community!  As you know, we donate the proceeds from the annual Bob-Tie Bash to various local charities and other good causes.  We’re particularly proud of the Automotive scholarships we donate to Lower Columbia College.

In a letter dated January 22, 2016, LCC Assistant Director of Foundation Scholarships & College Development Sheila Burgin had this to say:

I would like [to] express my gratitude for the gracious support of LCC students by the Columbia River Corvette Club!  As requested, the LCC Automotive Instructors selected a hardworking and dedicated student to receive the additional award funding for the 2015-2016 academic year, his name is Jeremy Reed.  Jeremy stopped by my office today and delivered a letter he wrote to the Corvette Club expressing his thankfulness to you all for supporting his education and future career.

It is truly humbling for me to see the difference that gifts like these make to our students.  When they come into my office, stunned and overwhelmed that someone cares so much and wants them to succeed in their endeavors, even I have a difficult time being able to express the emotions that I see in their faces.  Thank you for your wonderful gift of education!

This is from Jeremy’s letter:

Dear Columbia River Corvette Club,

I am writing to thank you for your generous $800 automotive scholarship.  I was truly stunned and very happy when I heard I was selected to be the recipient of the scholarship and know that it is really going to assist me in my passion, the automotive field.

I am an Automotive major with a passion to turn wrenches and gain the knowledge to diagnose, service, and fix vehicles to make them safe for customers and everyday drivers.  With the knowledge I am learning I have been able to identify and solve my family’s as well as my own vehicles diagnoses and corrections with great confidence in doing so.  I plan to do a double major in diesel mechanics also and in my future be able to work on and service Harley Davidson motorcycles.  Which all works to my 10 year goal of owning a custom hot rod, rat rod, and custom motorcycle shop here in Southwest Washington.  Thanks to you I am one step closer to my goals.

By awarding me the Automotive Scholarship, you have helped lighten my financial burden and made me able to focus on my learning as well as helped me to get the tools and literature I need to make my life easier.  Your generosity has inspired me to pay it forward and do what I can to be a positive member in our automotive society.  I hope one day to help others exactly as you have helped me to achieve my goals and pursue my dreams.  Thank you very much.

Jeremy Reed

Now, doesn’t that make you feel good? We do.
