President Don Evans made the trip up to Olympia for the 2022 Corvettes de Olympia Vette-Frest Shine and Show. Here’s his report!
I left at 6 AM and dropped Blake – my pup – at a friend in Tumwater. We arrived at Titus-Will, Olympia around 7:30 a.m. There were Corvettes everywhere! I was parked in the C-6 section. We were in so tight I could barely open my driver’s side door to get out. I opened my hood, cleaned the front windshield then said – “heck with this”. I am going to enjoy the show. From what I understand, there were 103 Corvettes registered, with another 17 just there. There was a 1960 and 1962 in the showroom – both beautiful Vettes. 5 C-2s, some C-3s, and a bunch of C-4’s. I would say 5 of the C-4’s were excellent. If you remember, the hood swings up so one can view the entire engine, headers, radiator etc. One C4 appeared to have been dropped in by helicopter – ultra clean. That was driven from Wenatchee. The judges surely had their work cut out.
The food wagon came in and a long line immediately formed. Titus-Will Chevrolet paid for the registered entrees – the pulled pork sandwich I had was worth the one hour wait!!
At 3 p.m. the awards were handed out to the judged cars, plus people’s choice. It was a great day spending time with our Corvette family!
(A quick note about the CdeO Presidents photos: Larry and Karen Johnson formed the swap meet in Centralia. They were members of Columbia River Corvettes for 18 months I believe.
Larry was CdeO president – 1973, 1981, 1986. His wife Karen was president – 1983, 1990 and 1998.)
